Oakham Focus: New Era of Lyrean Cup

The Lyrean Cup has officially moved to a league format for the remainder of the season. Every team will now face each other twice, with two games in each meeting, putting a greater emphasis on consistency across the campaign rather than a handful of fixtures.

Oakham Villa have made a solid start, sitting on 3 points with a 3-3 record after six games. The Villains split their opening series with Ouelles Dragons, suffered two defeats to Commons Culprits, before bouncing back with dominant 11-1 and 12-2 wins over Kaowtan Kings.

With another full round of fixtures still to play, Villa remain firmly in the title race. The new format means there is plenty of time to climb the table.

One of the biggest reasons for Villa's strong position has been the attack. iPlexity currently leads the entire Lyrean Cup Golden Stick race with 16 goals, one ahead of Commons Culprits' Hxrl. Hg__80 has added 11 goals, while teato has chipped in with 7, giving Oakham three players inside the competition's top ten scorers.

The Villains have shown they can score against anyone. Now the challenge is turning those goals into more points as the race for the Lyrean Cup enters its second half.
